Winter Nights & Lowcountry Lights!

Winter Nights & Lowcountry Lights!

If your December calendar is looking for a little sparkle, head to the South Strand! Murrells Inlet is trading its usual salt-air calm for a glow-up this holiday season. The MarshWalk Wonderland of Lights turns the half-mile waterfront boardwalk into a sparkling spectacle, running nightly through December 31 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Eight restaurants along the MarshWalk join in with synchronized light displays and music, creating a festive scene that’s easy to wander through at your own pace. Through December 21, weekend visitors can explore Santa’s Village, complete with seasonal activities and family-friendly attractions. Local vendors pop up on Saturday nights, giving the boardwalk an extra dose of holiday cheer and a chance to pick up unique gifts.

Why It Works for the Whole Crew

  • Free and easy-going: No tickets, no reservations; just show up!
  • Waterfront magic: Salt breezes and marsh views give your stroll a Carolina twist.
  • Festive rhythm: Lights and music start at the top and bottom of each hour for a fully choreographed experience.
  • Snap-worthy spots: Candy Cane Arch, Gingerbread House, and the 20-foot tree make for postcard-perfect photos.
  • Local flavor: Participating restaurants include Bovine’s, Wahoo’s Fish House, Drunken Jack’s, Creek Ratz, Dead Dog Saloon, The Claw House, The Wicked Tuna, and Sloppy Jose’s Cantina and Seafood Grille.

By combining classic seasonal fun with the low-key charm of the South Strand, this light display keeps things local, lively, and unmistakably festive. It’s the kind of evening that leaves you humming Christmas tunes and wishing for just one more lap around the boardwalk.

So whether you’re after a romantic evening, a family outing, or just a walk to soak up some holiday cheer, MarshWalk delivers. Grab a warm drink from one of the restaurants, let the lights reflect on the water, and take in the holiday energy that only Murrells Inlet can provide!
