Spring Starts at Flowertown

Spring Starts at Flowertown

It may still be February, but in Summerville, we’re already daydreaming in shades of azalea pink. Every April, Summerville shakes off the winter blues and bursts into full bloom for the Flowertown Festival—where the blossoms are popping, the sweet tea is flowing, and thousands of people pour in for a weekend that’s as Southern as it gets. Since 1973, this beloved event has raised vital funds for the Summerville YMCA, turning flowers and funnel cakes into support for local health and wellness programs. So yes, that extra fried treat? Technically, it’s charity. Here's what's going down April 4-6:

What’s waiting for you?

  • Flowers, obviously. By April, Summerville will be in full bloom, with azaleas, wisteria, and dogwoods turning Azalea Park into something straight off a postcard. It’s the perfect backdrop for photos, deep breaths, and pretending you’re someone who stops to smell the roses more often.

  • 200+ vendors. If you’ve got a soft spot for unique finds and an impressive ability to justify “just one more” purchase, welcome to your personal treasure hunt.

  • Food worth breaking any diet for. Fresh-squeezed lemonade, kettle corn, and every deep-fried creation imaginable. If it can be battered and dunked in oil, someone at Flowertown has probably mastered it.

  • Live music & entertainment. Soon, the streets will be filled with the sounds of local bands, street performers, and the ever-present hum of festival-goers debating their next snack. Bonus: lots of people-watching potential.

  • Fun for the whole crew. Bring the kids, bring the grandparents, bring that friend who can’t resist a good craft fair—Flowertown has something for everyone!

Why Go?

Because it’s ours. For over 50 years, the Flowertown Festival has supported local businesses, celebrated the beauty of our town, and raised money for programs that give back to the community. Enjoy the flowers, indulge in the food, and walk away knowing that every bite, buy, and good time helped support a great cause.

Luckily, you’ve got time to plan, so start plotting your snack strategy, break in those walking shoes, and clear your schedule for April 4-6. Flowertown weekend is Summerville at its finest, and you won’t want to miss it.
