Peel the Excitement: Apple Fest is Here!

Peel the Excitement: Apple Fest is Here!

If there’s one thing we love a bushel and a peck around here, it’s a fresh-picked apple! And this fall, there’s no better place to bite into harvest season than the South Carolina Apple Festival

Tucked into the rolling hills of Westminster and Long Creek, this festival celebrates Oconee County’s status as the state’s largest apple-producing region. This year’s festivities will take place September 4-6, kicking off fall with small-town charm, sweet treats, and bunches of family fun! Trust us—no one throws an apple party quite like this!

There’s plenty of fun on the schedule to keep folks busy (and well-fed!) all weekend long. Start with the beloved Apple Festival Parade, where you’ll spot colorful floats, local marching bands, and the newly-crowned Miss Apple waving to the crowd. If you’ve got a competitive streak—and a killer pie recipe—don’t miss the Baking Contest, where local bakers battle for bragging rights and blue ribbons. And don’t forget to stroll through downtown Westminster to check out the Apple Festival Window Decorating Contest, where local shops go all out with creative, apple-themed displays.

Beyond apples, the festival also brings in live music from regional bands, turning the streets into an open-air concert with dancing, singing, and plenty of toe-tapping fun. You’ll meet friendly growers offering samples of apples, cider, and more, giving you a taste of what makes our orchards so special. And of course, there’s no shortage of apple goodies, including caramel apples, apple butter, fritters, and plenty of cider to wash it all down!

The South Carolina Apple Festival is more than fruit-filled fun—it’s a celebration of community. It’s about neighbors coming together, generations sharing traditions, and welcoming fall with open arms (and open mouths). Whether you come for the pageant, the pie, or just the people-watching, one thing’s for sure—you’ll leave with a bushel full of apples and memories!
