One Little Nut. One Very Big Festival.

One Little Nut. One Very Big Festival.

A pecan is a modest thing to build a citywide party around. Florence has spent more than two decades making the case anyway, with enough music, food and company to suggest the nut knew what it was doing.

The SC Pecan Music & Food Festival returns Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Its 22nd annual gathering will spread across downtown, with free admission and an expected crowd exceeding 50,000. That is a considerable social calendar compressed into nine hours.

The pecan still has responsibilities. Under the festival’s food vendor requirements, every food vendor must offer and clearly identify at least one item containing pecans. Home cooks get their own competitive outlet in the Pecan Cook-Off. The ingredient gives a sprawling event something specific to gather around, even as more than 250 vendors expand the possibilities beyond anyone’s reasonable lunch budget.

Downtown supplies the rest of the character. The 2026 entertainment lineup spans nine stages, including gospel, jazz and blues. Jason Scheff, longtime lead singer of Chicago, is scheduled to close the Main Stage from 5:30 to 7 p.m. There is room here for different musical loyalties without requiring everyone to agree on the playlist.

That same flexibility runs through the day. A family can make time for children’s activities, then explore the creative side of the gathering through Arts on Evans. The classic car show, held with the Swamp Fox Old Car Club on West Evans Street, gives people another reason to pause and talk. For adults 21 and older, the Pecan Pub offers a separate place for craft beer and cornhole.

Even the Run Like a Nut races bring downtown’s residential streets into the occasion, with 5K, 10K and half-marathon options. Florence becomes a place to move through together, at whatever pace the day allows.

For residents, that shared use of familiar streets is the appeal: several generations and interests can occupy the same Saturday. The festival is a program of the nonprofit Florence Downtown Development Corp., giving the gathering a direct connection to downtown’s ongoing life.

With that many people coming, consult the festival information for maps and Park & Ride guidance. Leave some room in the schedule for lingering. The pecan has arranged plenty of company.
