For more than 20 years, The Body Works! has helped people throughout the Pee Dee break that cycle. Founded in 2005 by Sarah Schaeffer, a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2001 with a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology, the practice is built on a simple belief: body care shouldn’t begin only after pain takes over. It should help prevent problems, restore movement and improve quality of life before small aches become bigger obstacles.

That philosophy has made The Body Works! one of the region’s most respected destinations for evidence-based body care. Combining clinical expertise with compassionate, personalized treatment, the team helps clients recover from injuries, manage chronic pain and illness, reduce stress, and maintain more active lives.

Services include Pain Management Massage, Lymphatic Drainage using the Vodder method, Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage, advanced Esthetic and Spa services, Mobile Spa experiences and Corporate & Special Events. The practice also partners with businesses throughout the Pee Dee, bringing onsite chair massage and wellness services into workplaces to reduce stress, boost morale and recognize employees. They provide evidence-based body care with a purpose. 

Schaeffer has also spent more than 10 years supporting the massage therapy profession through volunteer leadership with the American Massage Therapy Association. In 2026, she received the AMTA-SC Meritorious Award for her contributions to the profession and community.

After earning Best of South Carolina honors in 2024 and 2025, the practice’s 2026 Best of South Carolina Award feels less like a surprise and more like the community saying, “Yes, exactly.”
