About
The Museum and Railroad Historical Center is dedicated to Saving, Sharing, and Celebrating Greenwood's History.
You'll find hours of family fun at The Museum location (106 Main Street - Uptown). Travel back in time to stroll Main Street as it was in 1900. Come face to face with animals as you go Into the Wild. Venture underground to explore our Carolina Cave. See how great-grandma cooked in the Carolina Kitchen. With 50,000+ artifacts and seasonal exhibits to choose from, you'll always find something new to explore at The Museum, where history comes to life and learning is fun! Admission is free to The Museum.
At The Railroad Historical Center (908 South Main Street), you will experience some of the most beautiful antique train car restorations in the Southeast, from the 1906 Baldwin steam engine up front to the bright red caboose bringing up the rear. On Saturdays from mid-May through mid-October, you can take a guided tour actually walking through the cars and hearing about their history. Can't come on a Saturday? Call any time to schedule a private tour. Picture yourself back in the heyday of rail travel! Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 4-12, and free for children 3 and under. Private tours include an additional $25 surcharge.
The Museum and Railroad Historical Center is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization.
