The Promise School

The Promise School is an independent private school in the Charleston area.  We serve children in grades K- 8, with language-based learning differences (dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia). 

Our Mission: 

In a nurturing and engaging environment, The Promise School inspires bright, capable students with language-based learning differences (dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia) to unlock their potential, empowering them with skills that create pathways to self-confidence, independence and a love of learning. 

Our approach that we use is the Orton-Gillingham (O-G) approach.  O-G is the gold standard to teach students who have a language-based learning difference.  This approach is individualized, direct, explicit, diagnostic, and multi-sensory.   Multi-sensory means utilizing the associations of auditory, visual, and kinesthetic (movement) in the neural pathways in the brain for learning.
